About Coach Christina

A military spouse and senior-level project management professional, Christina Wilson got the idea for Ignite One College Coaching when her own three children were making the transition from high school to college. Spending countless hours identifying candidate schools and parsing through available information to ensure her children made the best college choice for themselves while being financially practical exposed her to the overwhelming and intimidating world that is the college selection process. Having to go through the process three times was a daunting and educational experience, and she became quite proficient at it and the similar approach that occurred when her children transitioned to the workforce. She began helping friends and neighbors as their children reached college age, and she realized there was a real need for her services, so Ignite One was formed. When not helping one of her coaching babies, Christina enjoys building with Legos, dabbling in photography, and spending quality time with her husband.

Why Ignite One?

I understand parents’ and kids’ practical and emotional needs as they embark upon their own unique educational and career journeys. In fact, the vast amount of information that is out there does little to provide clarity. And you could find yourself spending hours sifting through the millions of bits and bytes of data to find one helpful tidbit. Often, you’re not even sure what you should be looking for. Which information is useful? Which sources can I trust? What information applies to my child’s particular situation? The abundance of information is not always bliss!

The college admissions process and the transition from college to career are stressful times for parents and their children! To do them right requires a lot of time and energy, so having a coach to guide you through the process, is a great anxiety reducer.

I believe that every teen and young adult deserves the academic and social environment that works best for them. One in which they can comfortably and confidently develop, learn, and grow into adulthood. Finding the right school and the best company to work for after college are two of the most important decisions you and your child will make and will profoundly affect your child’s emotional and financial well-being. Since students approach both milestones with different skill sets, abilities, and records of achievement, I meet with each student individually to fully understand their qualifications, passions, desired college experience, and career aspirations to formulate the plan that will work best for them. Whether your child has all As and has started a national foundation or has a D and two Cs on their last report card, there are plenty of opportunities out there for all students.

I am not about getting my students into prestigious schools but rather getting them into the best school for them. That goes the same for college students preparing to join the workforce who are scared of the unknown and unsure how to start.

I employ a friendly but no-nonsense, no-excuse style to work with students to help make the college search, application, and essay-writing process an adventure of self-discovery and growth. Along the way, I help students learn to make more informed decisions and to own the process. That’s why students trust me, respect my knowledge and experience, and work hard to meet their assignments and deadlines.

One of my most important roles is to act as a buffer between you and your child. Family harmony during multiple school applications is the positive outcome I aim for. It’s my job to make the college application experience as stress-free as possible for the families I work with. I focus on reassuring nervous parents and guiding students through the process of self-discovery while ensuring that all the administrative pieces are managed efficiently and accurately.
